Contributions

The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts provides theatre education to over 1,400 youths, teens and adults in the DC area each year. The generous contributions of your time and donations allow us to continue to offer numerous programs committed to broadening participation in theatre arts and provide theatre education opportunities for traditionally underserved populations with need-based financial aid, or through our free outreach program, Life Stories, for seniors, incarcerated and at-risk youth, and the homeless. You can support us in many meaningful ways:

General Donations : The Theatre Lab depends on individual contributions, as well as corporate, foundation and goverment grants, for more than 47% of its operating expenses.

Send A Kid To Camp : Each April, we raise scholarship funds to allow dozens of disadvantaged children to attend our award-winning summer programs. In April 2011, we raised over $60,000 from more than 400 generous individuals, as well as foundation and corporate donors. Check back early in 2012 for ways that you can help.

The Jane Pesci-Townsend Fund for Excellence in Musical Theatre Education : The purpose of this fund is to ensure the continued tradition of excellence in musical theatre education provided by The Theatre Lab’s Musical Theatre Institute for Teens, a program inaugurated by legendary performer and teacher Jane Pesci-Townsend in 2001.

Arts Fund for Child Health and Development : This Fund helps to provide support for students with financial need to attend The Theatre Lab’s Summer Acting Camp for Kids.

Dena Kohn Memorial Fund : This scholarship was established by the Kohn family and members of the company of The Theatre Lab’s production of Ragtime in memory of Dena Kohn, a student at TTL. The Fund provides scholarships each year to deserving teenagers to participate in The Theatre Lab’s Musical Theatre Institute for Teens.
